I think you would be interested in our top 3 roadtrips. We have lots to choose from as we do at least one roadtrip annually, and we have traveled through every US state and Canadian province & territory.  We have driven to the edges of North America – the Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific, the Arctic and the Atlantic Oceans – from our home base in Toronto.  So, here are our favourite 3 roadtrips.  By the way, that is not our travel rig.  We came across it in the south east USA.

#1 – Arctic Road Trip

This was a 10 week, 20,000 kilometre road trip from Toronto, Canada to Alaska, Yukon, North West Territories, and the Arctic Ocean.  We lived in our TearDrop Trailer and took full advantage of provincial, state and national parks along the way.   We completed the trifecta of must-do gravel highways – the Dempster, the Top of the World, and the Taylor Highways, as well as the paved Alaska Highway.  I went swimming in the Arctic Ocean.   Read more at Arctic Road Trip

Why is this #1.  For Cathy, it was a trip that impressed her with the immensity of our North and how little we knew when we started.  She also was able to connect with her Macdonald family roots in Peace River and the historic Victoria Settlement in Alberta.  For me, it was making it to the Arctic Ocean by car – the last 100 + kilometers of gravel road north to Tuk, NWT had just recently opened.

#2 – Coast to Coast USA

For this trip, we did a 12,000 kilometre winter/ spring loop from Toronto to Moab, Utah to St George Utah to Mission Beach, San Diego to Hilton Head, South Carolina and back to Toronto.  We spread this trip over several weeks with extended stays at several places.  Highlights were hiking in Arches, Zion and Bryce National Parks, beach walks to see the sunrise over the Atlantic and the sunset over the Pacific Ocean, driving through White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, visiting Karchner Caves in Arizona, and eating southern foods.  Read more in Coast to Coast USA

Why only #2.  Well, this is a great trip.  This route is filled with interesting people, places and scenery.  Probably #2 only because we talk more about our Arctic Trip.

#3 – Ski Roadtrips

My brother and I have done 3 roadtrips where we combine travel with skiing at world class resorts, in our case using the Mountain Collective Pass.  Our regime over 10 day trips, is 2 days of skiing followed by 1 day on the road to the next resort.  Our first trip was a southern loop from Las Vegas, to Mammoth, California, to Tahoe, California, to Alta, Utah and return to Las Vegas.  Our second trip was a more northern loop, in this case, start in Salt Lake City, to Alta, Utah, to Jackson, Wyoming, to Grand Targhee, Idaho, to Sun Valley, Idaho and return to Salt Lake CIty.  Our third trip started in Calgary, going to Banff, Alberta, to Revelstoke, British Columbia, to Whistler, British Columbia, and ending in Vancouver British Columbia.  All three of these trips were spectacular for world class skiing and experiencing winter in the Rocky Mountains.  See more at  USA Ski Trips    and Canadian Ski Trips .  Any one of these is absolutely #3.

Possible Next Favourite

This summer I am doing a diy camping conversion of  our mini-van for a fall, 2024 trip to Magdellan Islands in the Gulf of St Lawrence and to Prince Edward Island.  So stay tuned for some blogs about the conversion and our experience with this new to us type of road trip.
