Cathy and I are now home from a few days of camping at Ferris Provincial Park on the Trent River near Campbellford, Ontario. Ferris PP is an easy day trip from Toronto and about 1 hour drive from our cottage on North Stoney Lake. Our campsite #61 in the Bedrock Campground is quite private and with an electric hookup to recharge our Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid minivan, run our cooler and recharge our devices. The senior rate is Cdn$35 per night. You can see the full campground layout at Ferris PP.
We take two trail hikes, one along the River Gorge / Ranney Falls Trails, and the other along the Milkweed Trail. Both are in full fall colours which is beautiful. The trails are well gravelled with only a few slightly technical climbs into and out of the Gorge. A highlight is the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge with a downstream view of the gorge and an upstream view of the falls and power station.

A few things to know. We were amazed to find mosquitos at the end of September and so kept our bug shelter over our picnic table. The park does have a boat launch however it looks to me more for kayaks and canoes as the irregular concrete ramp looked axle destroying for boat trailers. And swimming in the river is not allowed due to currents and surges of water from the dam releases.
And a shout out to 52 North Pub and Grill in Campbellford. We finished our trip there with lunch on their patio overlooking the Trent River. Good food and local beer. Who can ask for more.
