We hike the Elephant Arch Trail – St George, Utah

Scroll down to content

Cathy and I hike the Elephant Arch Trail guided by friends and family.  This trail is on the north side of St George and there is no access fee.   The last mile to the trail head is a gravel road and done best with a 4×4 especially when wet.   It is about 2 1/2 miles to the Arch and we return on the same trail.   There is about 400 feet elevation and some rock scrambling required to stand under and above the Arch.

The blue arrows on the picture to the left point to the Arch.  Another hiker’s dog joined me to show me the path up to the Arch.  Stay to the left for the climb – folks going up the right side were having some difficulty getting hand and foot holds.  The cliffs along the way to the Arch are carved by wind and water into uniquely delicate shapes.  This is a fun and scenic  hike.
