Spring Hike on the Red Trail – Stoney Lake Trails

Scroll down to content

Today we hiked the Red Trail through the Kawartha Land Trust.  This marked trail takes you on a one hour loop from the parking lot on Fire Route 10 off of Northey’s Bay Road to the Stoney Lake shore and back.  This is my new favourite  Stoney Lake Trail with lots of elevation change, a very well maintained trail, and some beautiful old forest.  At the lake, there is an green boathouse with a Trail sign on it, a good place to swim and a new dock with room for three boats.  Next time, we will go over by boat.  Boat access is on the marked channel in the narrows between Upper and Lower Stoney.

The woodlands have been filled with trilliums (Ontario’s provincial flower).  Cathy took a few pictures around our neighbour’s cottage.
