Lillooet is a small beautiful mountain town east of Whistler / Pemberton with the great slogan ‘guaranteed rugged’.  What got our blood pressure up was the nearby ‘Pavilion to Clinton’ summer road.  It deteriorates to wheel tracks through high mountain meadows with 15% grade gravel switch backs and the constant threat of logging trucks.  A beautiful ranch is in the high meadows where we saw the biggest bull ever.

Pemberton is a new favourite.  Hikes to Nairn Falls and Joffree Lake with our daughter, lunches at Grimm’s Deli, our nephew’s outdoor wedding on a beautiful sunny afternoon on Pemberton Meadows, and copious partying and bbq’s with the Aussie and Canadian family and friends.   In Pemberton, we stayed at Christie’s AirBNB ‘A Bright Beautiful Mountain Retreat’ and highly recommend.   Our daughter flew by sea plane from Victoria to Whistler for the wedding.  She raved about it for the views and a great alternative to the long bus/ferry journey.

On our way to Stewart BC and Hyder Alaska, we have enjoyed two excellent campsites.  North of Prince George at Crooked Creek Provincial Park, campsite 20 backs onto the lake and is very private.  And at Meziadin  Lake Provincial Park near Stewart BC., try to get campsite 46 which backs onto the lake with a view of snow capped mountains.   More about Stewart and Hyder in our next blog.

Just got this great photo from Calgary – Taiwan trail mates in Lake Louise.
