Cathy and I lunch on delicious perogies and schnitzel at the Swiss Bear Cafe in Apsley, just a few kilometres north of our cottage on Stoney Lake. Why are we here? Well, its been super cold and snowy so far this winter and we want to check on the snow plowing, plumbing and heating at our cottage. We decide to take a day trip up from Toronto. We pick a beautiful sunny day though still cold at -22C. The news is good – everything is OK at the cottage. The only drama is slip/sliding out of cottage driveway to the main road.
Our drive up Highway 28 makes for a scenic winter daytrip. The highway is well plowed. The granite outcroppings and forests along Highway 28 north of Burleigh Falls are framed with snow. And the Swiss Bear Cafe is an excellent lunch destination. Enjoy!!

We talk about other daytrips around Toronto at Daytrips .
