Here are some pictures of Cathy and my lazy week at Hilton Head Island. Think a wide sand beach, warm water, beach bikes, golf at the Golden Bear, and excellent happy hours at Reilley’s and Brother Shucker’s.
We do this trip annually. It is a 1000 mile drive from Toronto to Hilton Head, which we split into two days with an overnight in the New River Gorge area in southern West Virginia. The route is basicly Toronto to Buffalo to Pittsburgh to Charlotte to Columbia to Hilton Head. We stay at the Carolina Club located in the Shipyard Plantation on Hilton Head. This is a gated community with private access to the beach and miles of bike trials inside the plantation. A favorite outing of ours is to pack a lunch, bike the trail from Shipyard to Coligny Beach, return along the beach to our rented beach chairs, and spend a few hours of beach time before biking home.
This year we are satisfying my curiousity and spending some time driving the famous Blue Ridge Parkway through Virginia on the way home to Toronto. More about that in our next post.
