Cathy and I are now in the paradise called Bora Bora.
We loved our arrival. We did not realize that the airport is on an outer island. So after landing we transferred to the main island on a high speed Air Tahiti catamaran.
Our base is the Royal Bora Bora Resort. Our singular goal is maximum relaxation and this place delivers. Smallish, friendly, great beach, casual dress and excellent seafood on the menu.
All of the resort rooms face into tropical gardens. We are in room 112 with a nice view from a small patio. Very private except for the chickens.
Here are some knock-out views from along the beach.
A must-do is a kayak in the lagoon. Also bring along a mask and snorkel. Lots of fish in the small coral beds off the beach.
We walked over to Bora Bora Beach Club. This is a large public beach with some interesting beach bars. Norwegian Cruise Lines was in port and so lots of cruisers here on this day.
Tomorrow we fly back to Papeete for our Saturday departure on the Aranui 5 to the Marquesas. So stay tuned for the next blog about these remote islands.
Trip Backgrounder
Cathy and I fly into Papeete from Toronto via San Francisco on United. After overnighting in Papeete, we take a 1 hour flight on Air Tahiti to Bora Bora for a 5 day stay. Returning to Papeete, we board the Aranui 5, a hybrid freighter passenger ship for a 12 day, 3000+ kilometer round trip through the Tuamotu and Marquesas Archipelagos (map below). We spend our last night in French Polynesia on the island of Moorea, a short ferry ride from Papeete.
Amazing place to visit! I am enjoying your adventures immensely!
Wow! beautiful! Enjoy!
