A few years ago Cathy and I, with friends, did a road-trip around Newfoundland. This blog is about the second part of our drive, to Gros Morne and the west side of the island. Its just over 400 kilometres from Twillingate to Gros Morne, and over 700 kilometres from Gros Morne back to St. John’s. Its is a big commitment to drive to the West side of the island, however well worth it.
Gros Morne National Park is scenery plus. We did some local hiking, however there are some great multi-day back-country trails. Take a half day boat ride to see the fiords.
The beaches are rocky and the wild flowers were in full bloom.
The breathlessly beautiful pale violet miniature irises rival the host of golden daffodils. All along the west coast of NL and on up to Labrador. I’ll bet I took more pics of them, than you did.
